1975. The suicide of Cecilia, the youngest of the Lisbon sisters, obsesses the local boys with the fate of her siblings, of whom Lux [Dunst] is the most vivacious. Director Coppola captures the listless drift of suburbia but that sense of ennui infects the rest of the movie - flashes of wicked black humour fail to leaven the sombre tone.
