The Lawless Heart

The Lawless Heart

  • Rating: The Lawless Heart rated 4
  • Director:
  • Starring: Bill Nighy
  • Details: UK / 99 mins / (No Cert)

Written and directed by Neil Hunter and Tom Hunsinger, The Lawless Heart is a skewered romantic comedy, which will probably rank as one of the better British films of the year. Recounted through an elliptical narrative, the plot concerns three people whose lives are affected by the death of a restaurateur. Those three lives are dissected and laid bare for the camera as we see the same event from three different perspectives in a bid to understand peoples' perceptions and their motivations. It would be unfair to divulge too much of the plot - except the death of the restaurateur, Nick (Hollander) merely acts as a catalyst for these events to take place. Brilliantly filmed - the three segments are shot very distinctive fashion to give an insight into the characters in question - The Lawless Heart is imbued with a rich sense of humour, something that allows the writingandfrasl;directing team to explore the tapestry of human relationships.
