Vanya is a 6-year-old orphan living in a rundown orphanage in a remote Russian village. The only way for the kids to get out of the orphanage, is to be adopted by some folks whose tubes won't allow them to procreate. As this film is set before baby-buying was freely accessible on the internet, it sees folk having to go visit the little tykes and pick which one could wield a field plough sufficiently. In all seriousness, this is apparently quite a dark tale of adoption in Russia, as well a touching character study of a young boy coming to terms with the lack of a mother and father figure in his life.
