The Grinch
- Rating:

- Director:
- Starring: Christine Baranski
- Details: US / 90 mins / (PG).
The big budget live action adaptation of Dr Seuss' fantastical children's book is not quite the triumph it perhaps should have been. The rubber-faced Carrey (quite literally in this case) plays the eponymous Grinch - a mean spirited Scrooge-like figure who does his best to ruin Christmas for the happy residents of Whoville. Technically dazzling and brimming with effects, younger children will probably love The Grinch, but despite the slavish attention to detail, there's an absence of warmth at the heart of this movie. A major disappointment.
