A slow-moving drama, Summer Hours concerns itself with two brothers and a sister (Binoche) who return home to celebrate their mother's 75th birthday. All three are really there to sniff out their inheritance, but their mother has other ideas. An exploration of character rather than plot is the pitch for Summer Hours, and the beautiful locations Assayas chooses to shoot his scenes seem to be the biggest reasons to try this one.
