Startup.com

- Director: Jehane Noujaim

A timely release considering the recent slump in the technology field, Startup.com is a documentary about the rise and fall of an Internet company based in New York. Gaining remarkable access into the lives of the protagonists, Startup.com feels more like a real-life soap opera than a standard documentary as it features the characters negotiating a remarkable (and sometimes extremely funny) series of obstacles as they attempt to make their web site, govWorks, a success. Of course, things go horribly wrong for the business, but Noujam and Hegedus' subdued direction - via the medium of digital cameras - makes Startup.com interesting viewing. A tad lengthy, things gets a little tiresome towards the end of its 107 minutes running time, but overall, there's enough here to keep the most dedicated real life TV enthusiast entertained.
