PREVIEW
Director Carlos Reygadas is renowned for his long sequences, well-paced scripts and use of non-professional actors - so if you're expecting action sequences akin to Vin Diesel blowing up the UN building, don't bother with this. Silent Light goes inside a Mennonite (radical Christian) settlement in northern Mexico, where Johan, a married man, falls in love with another woman - against the so-called law of his God. True to form, Reygadas employs actual Mennonite people here, who speak in their own language (plautietsch). Don't worry, there'll be subtitles.
