Resident Evil: Extinction
- Rating:

- Director: Russell Mulcahy
- Starring: Ashanti
- Details: US / France / Australia / UK / Germany / 95mins (16).
The third instalment of the tired video game adaptation sees Alice (Jovovich), after the Raccoon City disaster, standing alone to bring down the evil Umbrella Corp., fronted by Albert Wesker (Jason O'Mara) and researcher Dr. Isaacs (Glen). Gathering together a few survivors, the leathered-up, gung-ho Alice heads up a convoy in an attempt to make it through the zombie wasteland of the Nevada desert and onto Alaska. Even though this sequel has zombies (and zombie cows - no, really), it really isn't a zombie 'movie'. Unable to shake off its computer game origins, Resident Evil 3's - like Silent Hill and Doom before it - episodic nature is far too similar to 'levels' and wedging in Mad Max and The Birds sequences is a bad attempt at trying too hard for kudos by association. It's pointless talking about performances in a film like this, but rest assured they're all below par. The real bad news is that although the title has 'extinction' tagged on, this ending leaves it wide open for another sequel. Boo-urns.
