My Little Eye

My Little Eye

  • Rating: My Little Eye rated 4
  • Director: Marc Evans
  • Starring: Bradley Cooper
  • Details: UK / 95 minutes / (18).

Most reviews of My Little Eye will invariably make reference to another low budget horror, The Blair Witch Project. And while these comparisons aren't without justification, My Little Eye, effective as it is, can't be judged in such illustrious company. Part horror and part satire, My Little Eye follows five contestants, who agree to take part in a social experiment internet game show. A direct relative of Big Brother, the game sees the five sharing a remotely located house for six months. If they all manage to make it through, they share a prize of $1million dollars. However, if one drops out, they all lose.
Another one of those films that overestimates its own intelligence somewhat, My Little Eye is still an entertaining little romp. Evans' knows how to create atmosphere and the fact that the entire movie is filtered through CCTV and web cameras certainly works. However his sense of pacing is a little off, and the twists are delivered with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer to the groin. Still, it doesn't cop out at the end, and for that at least, My Little Eye must be admired.
