Mothman Prophecies

Mothman Prophecies

  • Rating: Mothman Prophecies rated 2
  • Director: Mark Pellington
  • Starring: Laura Linney
  • Details: US / 119 minutes / (12PG).

John Klein a Washington Post reporter, is obsessed with his work after the death of his wife. Before she died Klein's wife claimed that she saw a huge moth-like creature, and made several crude drawings of it. Two years after her demise, Klein inexplicably finds himself in a small backwater town where the 'mothman' has been sighted several times, leading him to probe into the supernatural occurrence and its history. Although miscast, Gere manfully tries to grapple with the open-ended material and the director Pellington attempts through skewered lighting and camera angles to create an atmosphere of discomfort. It succeeds occasionally but overall, it's lacking in real dimension.
