Made

Made

  • Rating: Made rated 3
  • Director:
  • Starring: Faizon Love
  • Details: US / 95 mins / (18).

A comedy drama, Made sees (Ricky) Vince Vaughan and (Bobby) Jon Favreau team up as a couple of wannabe LA wise guys, who are instructed to drop off a package for the mob in New York City. As you might have guessed, things don't go exactly as planned, a situation not helped by Ricky's insistent chatter, which invariably gets the pair into trouble. While not as audience-friendly as Swingers - which Farveau also wrote - there's more than a hint of that Doug Liman movie about Made. Both Favreau and Vaughan have a nice chemistry and play off each other well, while the former's direction owes more than a cursory debt to the work of Martin Scorese. For the most part, the blend of comedy and drama works quite well, but even as things peter out to an unnatural conclusion, there's still much to fondly remember about Made. Great performance from Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs, too. Now, there's something I never thought I'd hear myself say.
