In The Bedroom
- Rating:

- Director: Todd Field
- Starring: Sissy Spacek
- Details: US / 130 mins/ (15PG).
Ruth and Matt have everything going for them and their only child, Frank is about to head off to college. However Frank becomes involved with local older woman, Natalie, who is estranged from her violent husband, Richard. Richard isn't happy that Frank is acting as a father to his two boys, which leads to a life-changing confrontation for all. Superbly directed, 'In The Bedroom' can lay claim to being one of the finest family dramas to have emerged from the U.S. in recent years. The film maturely deals with difficult themes but never slides into melodrama or cliché. A superbly acted affair, brimming with unhurried, understated intelligence, it's a remarkable debut.
