Hannibal

Hannibal

  • Rating: Hannibal rated 3
  • Director: Ridley Scott.
  • Starring: Anthony Hopkins, Julianne Moore, Gary Oldman, Ray Liotta.
  • Details: US / 135 mins / (18).

A decade after she sought the aid of Hannibal Lecter, FBI agent Clarice Starling (Moore) is forced to go back on the cannibal's trail. A hideously disfigured millionaire, Mason Verger (Oldman), has new information on the whereabouts of Lecter and wishes to share it - if only for his own ends. Despite a talented cast and a director with a breathtaking sense of visual dynamics, Hannibal fails to thrill in the same way as its predecessor, The Silence of the Lambs. The main reason for this is due to the confused screenplay, which might succeed masterfully with the gorier aspects, but fails to harness any real sense of dramatic tension.
