Eurotrip

Eurotrip

  • Rating: Eurotrip rated 1
  • Director: Jeff Schaffer
  • Starring: Jacob Pitts
  • Details: US / 92 mins / (18).

A frat boy comedy with a capital F, Eurotrip follows a witless trajectory as it charts the progress - yes, you've guessed it! - a cross section of American middle class youths who set out to discover the real Europe. At the heart of all this mischief is Scotty (Scott Mechlowicz). Soon after his girl dumps him, Scotty gets the come on from his (presumed male) German email buddy. After a series of contrived misconceptions, Scotty realises that his email friend is actually a hot chick. Roping in a selection of his mates, including his young brother Bert (Nial Iskhakov) and best pal Cooper (Jacob Pitts), the gang head for Europe for all sorts of skulduggery.
Displaying all the subtlety, nuance and grace of the average England football fan, Eurotrip rips through the old staples of vaguely risque toilet humour with a thoroughly unbelievable premise. The young actors are game and offer themselves up as sacrificial lambs, but the writers take an almost sadistic glee in degrading them to levels that the Farrelly brothers would probably dismiss as being trite and unnecessary. If you thought Road Trip was a work of unmitigated genius, you'll love it. Anyone else is advised to steer this one a wide berth.
