Election
- Director: Alexander Payne.
- Starring: Matthew Broderick, Reese Witherspoon.
- Details: US / 103 mins / (15PG).
Yet another High School comedy, Election differs from most of this year's offerings by being a slightly twisted and bitter metaphor for the big bad world. Witherspoon runs for student president and is opposed by principal Broderick on the basis that she ruined his colleague's career by having an affair with him. Throw in a lesbian candidate and a jock candidate and the scene is set for a hilarious [and sometimes disturbing] depiction of American teen life.
