- Details: UK / 115 mins / (15PG).
An unashamed chick flick, Crush follows the exploits of a trio of life long friends, Kate (McDowell), Janine (Staunton) and Molly (Chancellor), who meet once a week and compare notes on their sex lives. Although the ladies have all had a plethora of sexual experiences - each week they all propose what their most unsatisfactory romantic experience of the last seven days - their dilemmas reach a crescendo, as they decide to finally take charge of their love lives.
While it would be very easy to compare Crush with the likes of Sex and the City, it falls short of even being a fraction as inventive as that long running television show. Borrowing from sources like Ally McBeal, Bridget Jones, the aforementioned Sex and the City, and Four Weddings and a Funeral, this is a formulaic addition to an already tired and clichandeacute;-ridden genre. Writerandfrasl; director John McKay shows little real imagination or flair and only succeeds in rehashing material that has been done more justice elsewhere. Give it a miss.
