Best in Show

Best in Show

  • Rating: Best in Show rated 5
  • Director: Christopher Guest.
  • Starring: Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Christopher Guest, Parker Posey, Michael Hitchcock, Michael McKean.
  • Details: US / 90 mins / (12PG).

Written and directed by one of the main players behind the classic 'rockumentary' 'This Is Spinal Tap', 'Best in Show' is a prickly, yet ultimately wryly affectionate look at the world of dog shows. Filmed in a mock documentary style, the story follows several folks of very different backgrounds - ranging from Posey's immature yuppie to Guest's slack jawed yokel - who all desperately want to win the Philadelphia Mayflower Dog Show and have their animal proclaimed the 'Best in Show'. Guest's direction is assured throughout, but the real stars are the character actors he so skilfully utilises and supplies with an extremely funny and witty script. See it.
