A Midsummer Night's Dream

A Midsummer Night's Dream

  • Director: Michael Hoffman.
  • Starring: Michelle Pfeiffer, Kevin Kline, Rupert Everett, Calista Flockhart.
  • Details: US / 115 mins / (15PG).

This earthy take on Shakespeare's most confusing comedy boasts strong performances from Everett, Kline and [surprisingly] Ally McBeal's Flockhart but the combination of rich language and myriad sub-plots hamstring its efforts to entertain. The movie is visually pleasing but it doesn't excite in the same way as Baz Luhrman's Romeo and Juliet.
