Newbie LA cop Hawke is assigned to Washington's hard-bitten narc officer for a 'training day' detail only to find himself party to corruption. No surprises there, but Training Day is a refreshingly tense, muscular thriller that delivers on a number of levels, not least of which is Washington's electric performance.
