The Merchant of Venice
- Rating:

- Director: Michael Radford
- Starring: Al Pacino
- Details: US / 126 mins (12s).
A faithful but too straightforward rendition of Shakespeare's polemic on anti-Semitism, in which Pacino excels as Shylock the Jew, who demands a literal pound of flesh when Irons' Antonio defaults on his loan. However, the excellent cast seems to be constrained by Radford's insistence on fidelity to the text.
