The Manchurian Candidate
- Rating:

- Director:
- Starring: Denzel Washington
- Details: US/ 129 mins/ (15s).
A remake of the 1962 Cold War classic, Jonathan Demme's The Manchurian Candidate modernizes the material and plays around with the premise with surprisingly effective results. Washington is a Gulf War veteran who twigs that a former colleague (Schreiber) - now running for vice president - may be at the heart of a conspiracy. Although obvious cracks appear in the final 15 minutes, The Manchurian Candidate maintains a high level of intrigue.
