The Animal
- Rating:

- Director: Luke Greenfield
- Starring: Guy Torry
- Details: US / 83 mins / (12PG).
Sometime cohort of Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider plays Marvin. He's a nerdy guy whose only desire is to become an officer of law. After he's involved in a car crash, a mad surgeon implants various animal organs into his body in a bid to save Marvin's life. The ploy works, but the side effects are devastating as Marvin begins to adopt some of the instincts of the animals whose organs he has been given. What worse, he's fallen in love with Riannna (Colleen Haskell), a beautiful environmentalist, and his urges seem to accelerated by his affections for her. Make no mistake about it, if you're looking for subtle comedy and deft jokes, steer well clear of The Animal. Admittedly, Schneider does deliver a fine physical performance as the title character and I'm sure many out there will find it ingenious and entertaining viewing. I didn't, but then again, maybe that's just me.

We all like writers who have a bit of moxy about them, don't we? Hemmingway, Hunter Thompson, Burroughs, Bukowski. Rumour has it that when our own Mike Sheridan writes up a review he goes... [more]
