Long time film producer and first time director Stephen Woolley has chosen the biopic of Brian Jones - a co-founder of the Rolling Stones - as the subject of his directorial debut. However, what should be a vibrant and insightful account into the life and premature death of Jones is nothing more than a lackluster affair, which would be better suited as a TV movie (where at least the viewer has the opportunity of switching over to something more entertaining - like Chantelle's Dream Dates).Told predominately from the view of Frank Thorogood (Considine, wasting his time), a builder cum caretaker to the trouble musician, this history doesn't know whether it is the story of Jones of Thorogood. Insipid, dull and lacking any tension, Woolley's vision of the tragedy of a young life coming to an early end and the dissipation of delinquent talent is a wasted opportunity. It's also a complete waste of time.
