Divorced wine buff and failed novelist Miles (Giamatti) takes his college buddy Jack (Church) on a stag week sipping wines in Northern California, with mid-life crisis along for the ride. Sideways isn't quite the instant classic it was hailed on release, but the strong performances, poignant story and black humour make for a hugely enjoyable film.
