Jack Black runs riot in this enjoyable comedy in which he plays a rock guitarist and professional slacker masquerading as a teacher. Inevitably, he helps his uptight students relax, while he learns something about responsibility. Though its message is somewhat hackneyed, Black's performance is anything but, and his sheer energy makes School of Rock an entertaining diversion.
