Riding in Cars with Boys

1968. Pregnant teen Bev (Barrymore) marries hopeless slacker Ray (Zahn) and watches her dreams of being a writer go down the tubes. A potentially hard-hitting drama is undermined by too many excursions into mushy chick-flick territory, although the performances of the leads make it (just about) worth the trip.
