A quirky, off-beat romantic comedy in which Sandler reins in his irritating persona and instead creates the complex, nuanced character of Barry; a harassed and put-upon nowhere-man, Barry decides to give his life some meaning in the pursuit of Lena (Watson). Director Anderson draws the best out of Sandler, no mean feat in itself.
