Spacey is a teacher who challenges his pupils to change the world; Osment plays the kid who devises a scheme involving 'paying forward' three acts of kindness. Hunt is superb as Osment's alcoholic mother, but the excellent performances from the leads are let down by a cloyingly sentimental finale.
