One Night At McCools
- Rating:

- Director:
- Starring: John Goodman
- Details: US / 93 mins / (15PG)
Slick comedy thriller sees three men transfixed with the same beauty (Liv Tyler) for different reasons. There's the barman at McCools, Randy (Dillion), who sees her as the girlfriend he never had; smug lawyer Carl (Reiser) who thinks a dalliance with Jewel will be the perfect antidote to his stale marriage; and decent cop Charlie believes that the mysterious young woman is a carbon copy of his dead wife. Infusing three separate stories by the means of one thread is no easy task, but Zwart and his cast pull it off with some style. The result of their endeavors is a funny and enjoyable black comedy, which boasts some superb performances. The only complaint is things get a little cumbersome near the Tarantino-esque finale, but One Night At McCools is still an engaging trip.
