Based on stories by FX O'Toole, this has Eastwood as a veteran boxing trainer coaching Swank's wannabe champ all the way to a title shot. An excellent script and three strong performances by the leads combine with Eastwood's lean direction to create an absorbing tale that won well-deserved Oscars.
