Gooding plays Carl Brashear, the first black graduate of the US Navy Dive School, in a biopic-of-sorts; De Niro plays his tough-but-fair drill sergeant. All the cliches are honoured and there's nothing here you haven't seen before. A terrible waste of fine acting talent.
