It's difficult, at the best of times, to get excited about the world of hairdressing contests but when that slight premise lies at the heart of a movie then concentration is bound to wander. A good cast (Rickman, Richardson) and some interesting ideas get lost in the withering banality of the scissoring, and the end result looks like a made-for-TV throwaway.
