Weedy bank clerk John (Chaplin) is delighted when things appear to be working out with his mail order Russian bride Nadia (Kidman). But then her cousins (Cassel, Kassovitz) turn up, and everything goes suitably sinister. A lightweight romantic comedy, with Kidman in sparkling form, Birthday Girl is enjoyably diverting.
