Boy-robot Osment embarks on a quest to become real so that his 'mother' (O'Connor) will come to love him. A quaint fairy-tale fabulously realised as a sci-fi moral conundrum, AI is overlong and ridiculously overblown at times but nevertheless constitutes a fascinating, thought-provoking experience.
